Reynir Thor

I don’t like the arts but the arts like me

"Most of my works begin with a feeling – object – idea or memory, from autobiographical perspective. Being inspired by society’s subculture, and having superficiality playing a big role, it fascinates me to recontextualize the everyday, often in more dead serious humorous way, and to question the condition of appearance of an artwork or an object in the context of contemporary.
I like to work with the idea of contesting the division between the realm of memory and the realm of experience.
Associations and meanings collide, Space becomes time and objects and elements become a story.
You can clearly see a high interest in situations in which everyday objects are altered or detached from their natural function. By applying specific combinations and certain manipulations, different functions and contexts can be created".
