The Balcony is glad to present ‘Am I a Prey or a Weapon’, a collaboration between artists Saelia Aparicio & Mire Lee.
👉 Saelia Aparicio lives on a secret island in London, where she graduated in Sculpture at the RCA in 2015.
In her multidisciplinary practice, she deals with ideas of pollution, the organic and the hybrid.
Some of her solo exhibitions include: Prótesis para invertebrados, La casa encendida, Madrid (2019), Cadena Atrofica (2018, Murcia, Spain, in collaboration with the designer Attua from Silo Studio), Your Consequences Have Actions (2017, The Tetley, Leeds), Peaks & Troughs (2017, TURF Projects, London)
Group exhibitions include: Flipside, (in collaboration with Paloma Proudfoot) curated by Rosie Reed at Fold Gallery (2018), Machine gun Etiquette, Belmacz (2018), Retour Sur Mulholland Drive (2017, curated by Nicolas Bourriaud at La Panacée, Montpellier, France) and Bloomberg New Contemporaries 2016, The Bluecoat (Liverpool) and the ICA (London)
In 2017 she received a New Contemporaries studio Bursary with Sarabande, The Lee Alexander Mcqueen Foundation, London.
👉 Mire Lee (b. 1988, KR) finished an undergraduate program majoring in sculpture in 2013 at Seoul National University. Her practice studies the embodiment of energy such as drive, vitality, desire, violence and other affective factors. She is currently participating in a residency program at Rijksakademie in Amsterdam from 2018.
